What are Other Cool Features of Office 2010?

MicrosoftOffice Home Student 2010 may be one of the apps that you plan to order recently. You may already know about some of 2010’s most basic features such as the Backstage View where everything is organized in one single space.  There are other useful things about the productivity platform, though that can enhance your experience of creating business, school or personal projects.

First, is your ability to edit images from within the doc. You don’t have to play with other software such as Adobe Photoshop in order to optimize the look of your images. You can correct the contrast, sharpness and softness of the image and you may even adjust color saturation. You can take away backgrounds, add certain artistic touches and input picture styles that suit your documents. There are live previews for each of these effects so that you can integrate them easily into your presentations.

Second, you can embed videos in PowerPoint. Videos are dynamic because the motion picture format can demonstrate almost anything. In PowerPoint, you can use it to compliment your slides and these can be embedded using locally stored files or you can gather from sources such as YouTube or Vimeo. These locally stored videos. If the movie is a file that you have, you can edit it and start trimming it so that it fits your PowerPoint 2010 presentations.

Third, in Excel 2010 you have the Slicers. This is one of the major features in the new suite and this works very well with PivotTables and PivotCharts. It’s very easy to use and it can be very dynamic. Essentially, Slicers are like filters – they take data from a PivotTable and break it down into small details. This is very helpful if you intend to demonstrate the most important points in your data.

Finally, you can be able to broadcast in PowerPoint. You can make presentations over Skype or on the phone to people who are not with you on site. You simply create a link and then your recipients get a copy of your presentation. You will need a second screen though so that you can view your PowerPoint 2010 notes while making a presentation. Nevertheless, this because useful if you need to broadcast your slides remotely. MicrosoftOffice Home Student 2010

Behind the Scenes of Microsoft Office Home Student 2010

If you have or are planning to get Microsoft Office Home Student 2010, then the best thing to do is to familiarize you with the best features of 2010 that its predecessors don’t have. Perhaps the most salient feature is the Backstage View. The Backstage view serves as the File menu of 2010. The File tab is blue and you can find it at the left of the tabs. It opens up a display of the most basic commands including Save, Print and Open.

If you have a file that is open, and you click on the File tab – you will be treated to the Info screen. This is where the basic information such as the properties are and in here you have options for modifying the permissions and prepping the file for distribution and replacing older versions of the file. The file command can be found at the pane on the left.

What are the file formats in Office 2010? Just like in 2007, the formats in MS 2010 are XML. This allows the files to become more light-weight, increases their compatibility and provides easy recovery and macro storage to hinder harmful codes. .docx for instance is thed default format for an MS Word file just as .pptx is to PowerPoint and so on. You can save files in PDF or in XPS, which is another type of computerized file format.

If you need to open files, you can click on Recent if it is a file that you have used recently.  Then, click on the necessary file so that you can open it. If you want to stay on the same list, you can click on the pin that you will find to the right of the file name. If not, from the File tab – press Ctrl + O, the Open dialogue box will be shown to you. From there, locate the required file and double click on the filename – alternatively hit it once and click Open.

Office 2010 files may open with Office 2007 but not on earlier versions. If you want to err on the side of more backwards compatibility save in 97-2003. Saving a file is pretty basic, click on the Save icon. This is located on the Quick Access Toolbar. Ctrl + S does this pretty easily too. You can click on File and on the Backstage view go for Save As if you need to save it as a separate file. Save in is clicked if you intend to navigate the folder or drive on your PC which to store the file.

Microsoft Office Home Student 2010 is very easy to use. Give it a try and make the best out of your school projects with this platform!

Essential Functions of Office 2010

Microsoft Office Student Edition 2010 may just be the suite for you if you are ready to appreciate the steps it has taken in upgrading the interface from its predecessors. Office 2010 no longer has the menu and tool bars for example which were used in 2003 and older versions of the platform.

As you may know, certain features from version 2007 have carried over in Office 2010. The Ribbon in 2010 contains the tabs which give you basic access to the tools and commands grouped together by the tasks you will require. Most of the important tasks can be found on the Home tab. If you want to hide the Ribbon, you can hit Ctrl + F1. Repeat those keys if you intend to see the ribbon again.  From the dropdown arrow to the right of the Quick Access bar you can choose minimize or double click any of the tabs on the ribbon.

There are tabs that appear every time an object is displayed within the document. For instance, if you insert a table into a Word file – it opens up the Table Tools Design and the Layout Tabs for the table tools. When the object is not selected anymore, the Home tab is then shown.

You can get to the Quick Access tool bar within the Title Bar. It contains the Save, Undo and Redo commands.  You can customize it so that it will display icons for the commands which you regularly use. For instance, if you want to add a Spelling button, you can do that so that the Review tab will perform a spell-check. You can customize by clicking the arrow at the right corner of the Quick Access Toolbar. Adding one of the buttons from the drop down list simply requires you to click it.

For your dialogue box launcher, you can use the small buttons such as the arrows that appear at the bottom right of the screen. Clicking the button opens the dialog box that you require. Tooltips shows up every time you hover above any of the buttons within the ribbon. A tooltip basically gives you an overview of a command.

The Galleries is a list of certain items you may need in the ribbon including the Styles group. You can scroll down to see any other items you may need. Click on the drop down to see a more extensive list.

Use these tips when you get your Microsoft Office Student Edition 2010. Office 2010 may just be the right tool for you to excel in school.

Office Student 2010 Can You Still Use It?

Microsoft Office Home Student 2010, along with other editions of the same suite was released for some years now. A lot of new features have indeed been added to Office 2010 and a lot of them were a stepping stone for what the platform would become in years to come.  One significant change people may welcome is that Office 2010 may change the way people create and manage their documents and presentations.  So just what are the perks of this suite above its predecessor? Read on to learn more.

First, in Microsoft Word, you are given a whole lot more abilities. Your photos can be edited right on Word itself. You can input color changes, editing the photo background and even removing objects that you want to discard from the frame. Word art is more flexible and the Search feature is much more simplified and it has a paste preview! There are a lot of other things you can do with text from changing regular text into word art, among others.

Second, with Excel, you have the ability to put a graph in a small cell. This allows you to show your colleagues certain trends and this is known as Sparklines. This is different from the charts in Office 2007. Excel 2010 is much easier to follow and much more accurate.  The PivotTable also works to filter and compartmentalize data into different layers. You don’t have to spend as much time formatting and you can go right into the representational aspects of Excel.

PowerPoint 2010 also becomes a more versatile tool. PowerPoint this time, allows you to put video media in your presentation. This time you can edit, change contrast and do other things to enhance your video. Broadcast Slide Show allows you to share your presentation via the Internet and your viewers don’t even need PowerPoint in order to view your presentation.

OneNote is easier to organize, track and share different notes using different media. You can choose the auto highlighting feature to make your work faster and Linked Notes makes things much easier.

The thing you might notice the most of Microsoft office home student 2010 is the Office Backstage! This replaces the classic File menu by placing one common hub for file management. Basic functions such as Save and Publish are located in Office Backstage and it becomes much easier to access file commands. You can also customize the tabs so that it will suit your way of working.

Office 2010 is a neat package and you might just enjoy it if you have been a Microsoft user for a long time.
